LWD Portland partnered with Women Co/Create for an amazing Design Week Portland event on April 21st, 2016. We hosted a happy hour, followed by a speaking event featuring nationally recognized designer, Felicia Ferrone and print studio, Pattern People in the beautiful ZIBA auditorium.
The theme of the night was “Crossover”. We invited these speakers because the work they do is amazing and we wanted to showcase and give them a platform to share. They each tied in how they as designers merge interdisciplinary design thinking to crossover and find inspiration in their design practice, specific projects and as independent business owners in a creative field.
About the Speakers:
Felicia Ferrone is a designer and educator. As principal of the Chicago-based studio fferrone design Ltd., she heads an international multidisciplinary design brand that is rooted in the tradition of handcrafted objects and furniture.
Pattern People – Led by designers Claudia Brown and Jessie Whipple Vickery, Pattern People is an industry leading print studio known for producing innovative and forward-driven patterns. Merging their backgrounds in fashion, art, and graphic design, the duo brings a unique and multi-faceted perspective on print and pattern design.
Many thanks to our host Ziba, our sponsors: Women Co/Create, Studio Co/Create, League of Women Designers, Widmer, Gray Magazine, New Seasons Market, Clay Pigeon Winery, Pistils + Stamen and our generous volunteers.
Their support not only made this event possible but also made it affordable and open to the larger Portland design community.
