A Visit to Anna Brown’s New Studio:
A discussion with fashion designer Anna Brown about the design process.
Anna Brown brings a background in art history and comparative literature to clothing design. Her collection research interests include historical menswear and workwear, twentieth-century art and design, and the built environment and its interaction with nature.
After 3 years as a designer in residence at the Chicago Fashion Incubator at Macy’s on State Street, she has recently relocated to a newly completed studio in Pilsen.
For this month’s meeting, we will join Anna at her new studio, where she will lead a discussion on the process of designing a collection from inspiration to completion, including research, mood board creation, the evolution of samples, to final piece.
We’ll then transition into a conversation about where we each find inspiration for new work, and how that inspiration develops into a finished design. We look forward to sharing how different design disciplines conceive of the design process, in addition to how we work as individuals.
